Is the Financial World ready to make Milan the new London after Brexit?
The most dynamic Italian city is ready to attract capitals and assets from the City after Britain leaves the European Union.
Something is already happening: you can hear so many stories of people who are moving to a city with cheaper houses, lots of international schools, a high vibe lifestyle and…where, if you want, you can go to work on foot.
The Italian government is working on regulatory affairs in order to make Milan even more attractive. The purpose is to introduce ad hoc laws and improve the diplomatic effort to win the competition with other European cities that seek to take up the baton from London: Frankfurt, Paris, Luxembourg and Dublin.
An interesting and forthcoming challenge for Milan is the official candidacy to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA). After Brexit, this European Agency will have to leave its current offices in London by March 2019. Milan is offering one of its most iconic symbols of contemporary architecture: the Pirelli Tower skyscraper.
Of course we think thet Milan has the right credentials to succeed:
- A strategic geographical position in the heart of Europe
- Efficient transport links to other European cities
- Excellent universities with English classes
- Innovative startups and scientific research centers
- World-class art and culture scene
- Next to mountains, lakes and beaches
