Happy Birthday Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II!

Happy Birthday Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II!

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele

The elegant Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan was inaugurated 150 years ago, September 13th. Happy birthday!

The famous and fashionable Gallery in Milan is 150 years old.  It was 1867, September 13th, when the architect Giuseppe Mengoni completed this elegant passage with a glass dome. The city dedicated the gallery to the first king of the brand new Italian monarchy, Vittorio Emanuele the Second.

Along this century and a half the Gallery has gone through destructions, wars, dark periods and rebirths. Therefore, that’s why the Mayor and the Local Goverment decided to celebrate this city landmark with a top dinner under the dome! 900 special guests and 500 euro to participate. The Michelin starred chef Carlo Cracco suggested the special menu: Risotto alla Milanese and Ossobuco. And of course the Marchesi-Prada bakery offering the typical Panettone. The city will raise all the money for charity.

So, Milan this week is celebrating the anniversary of one of its most iconic and representative monuments. And people all over the World know the elegant milanese shopping mall. Consequently, here you can find some pictures in honor of the Gallery. This is our tribute to this magnificent milanese location!
