Caravaggio in Milan

Once again Caravaggio in Milan. And once again the exhibition is almost sold out!

From September 29, 2017 to January 28, 2018 the Royal Palace in Milan hosts a great exhibition dedicated to the revolutionary Michelangelo Merisi (late 16th – early 17th century). This early Baroque artist was famous for the naturalism, the realism and the dramatic use of the chiaroscuro technique.

Dentro Caravaggio (Inside Caravaggio) is a major retrospective that shows for the first time together 20 masterpieces by the genius painter. The canvasses come from some of the major Italian museums (Uffizi in Florence, Musei Capitolini in Rome) and from important foreign collections.

Also, this amazing retrospective presents an unexplored new perspective of the years of the artist’s production. Therefore, here you find some new documents and more recent researches. Along with the paintings, the exhibition also shows radiographic images as well as multimedia contents. This interactive equipment allows a deeper knowledge about the creative process of Caravaggio, from draft to final work.

In the exhibition, world-renowned masterpieces are on view, including Rest on the Flight into Egypt (c. 1586, Doria Pamphilj Gallery, Rome), Good Luck (1595, Capitoline Museums, Rome) and Portrait of a Knight of Malta ( 1607-1608, Pitti Palace, Florence), to name just a few.
